Immigration support for students and
families
Immigration law in the UK is highly
complex, particularly for nationals of
countries outside the European Economic
Area (EEA). It is most likely that students
coming to the UK to attend school or
university will need a specific visa that
is sponsored by the college they wish to
attend.
Students’ family members wishing to visit
the UK must also take great care to ensure
that they are allowed to enter and remain
in the UK legally with the appropriate visa.
Many students and their families want to
extend their stay in the UK, once their
studies are complete, to develop careers
in one of the key global business hubs, to
enjoy the culture and to take advantage
of the thriving investment and property
markets.
Partner – Errington Immigration Services
We partner with a world class immigration
firm that is licensed by the UK Government
to provide legal advice on UK immigration
and to submit visa applications for
students and their families.
The Errington Immigration Services (EIS)
team has over 45 years of experience
of advising clients on the various UK
immigration options that will help them to
study, work, invest, trade or settle in the
UK, processing whichever visa application
best fits their circumstances. The team can
discuss client requirements in 8 different
languages and also helps with other
requirements such as arranging tax and
property advice and concierge services.
Students
To study in the UK, either attending an
independent school as a child or a further
education institute as an adult (over
16 years), all students from outside the
EEA must be sponsored by an education
provider that has a valid Tier 4 Sponsor
Licence issued by the UK Government’s
Home Office. Sponsorship of a student
by a Tier 4 Licence holder is recognised
when the education provider issues a
“Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies
(CAS)” to the student applicant. Without a
CAS, a non-EEA student cannot apply for
a visa to enter the UK to study at school
or university.
Applicants will have to provide certain
documents as evidence of their education
qualifications, financial funding and
English language capability according
to the requirements of their course of
study and type of visa. Besides Tier 4
Sponsorship, there are ‘Student Visitor’
and ‘Prospective Student’ visa routes to
consider, as well as family options such
as visas for parents accompanying a child
under 12 years of age.
